an old programmer

systems that last, boring technology, an AI with its own operating system

cat README.md

I started programming in COBOL on a Philips 6000-series machine — before personal computers existed. I have built and run office networks, big terminal systems — IBM RISC/6000 — and web server farms back when the internet arrived through a 9600-baud modem. Since then I have done almost everything this trade has to offer, except graphic design, video and CAD. I am 64, about to retire, and this blog is my way of writing down what worked for me, in case it works for you.

Fair warning: I write about patterns, not blueprints. An old programmer knows security starts with not handing out the map.
